| DESIGN NAME: Original Loft PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential space INSPIRATION: The residence belongs to a couple, who are both physicians. They are fond of coffee and expected to have their home created in the style of the cafe, imagining stepping into a coffee house when returning home and enjoying a relaxing time in busy daily life. As they had the novel idea not to have a residence of general type, Loft style was chosen as the base of design and numerous elements found in the cafe were thus used (such as a bike wall mount and the hanging TV). UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The living room, the dining room and the study room are combined as one with each retaining its own space. With the installation of curtains, the study room can be separated into an independent space and flexibly adjusted to different condition. Designer skillfully use vintage style flooring and reddish-brown yew particleboard panels from Order System Furniture, to appear both stylish and industrial-style atmosphere. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The homeowners are interested in cycling, therefore, the designer had the bike wall mount installed on the dining and kitchen area. With system particleboard panels as the background for the racks, a bicycle display wall equipped with function and style is successfully crafted, and the vacated space makes the circulation much easier. For the convenience to use 3C devices in the living space, the designer had sockets installed inside the raised wooden floor, so that the homeowners are free from restraint when using them. In order to solve the problem of hanging TV plug, the wired are hidden in the iron tubes and the problem of electricity is handled in an elegant way. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The young couple who are busy with medical work are particularly in favor of Loft style features and the leisure feel in the cafe. They expected their new home could have industrial charm and the ease of cafe incorporated in there. However, the relaxed atmosphere of the cafe may sometimes overtake the sense of relaxation a residence can offer. The designer planned with care and selected industrial-style elements such as reddish-brown yew particleboard panels, steel and craft stone, as well as Lotos clay mineral paint to replace cement for structuring the style. With system furniture for organizing and storing, a dwelling in the style of the cafe selling brewed coffee was created, exhibiting a rough and personalized lifestyle. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 126m2, with 3 rooms, living room and dining room, 2 bathrooms. TAGS: Loft, American style, industrial style, bicycle wall RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The essence of Loft style is to show the natural appearance of space, and iron metal and exposed pipelines are the key materials for shaping the style. In stereotyped impression on interior design, an embellished blank house is considered too stark and the exposed pipes not beautiful. The designer chose, as a result, hand-dyed gray-color craft stone and vintage-style super-wearable flooring to set the tone for the living room, with sharp-cut EMT conduits and industrial-style faucet handle of electrical appliances cabinet to enhance the traits of Loft style. The Nordic-style desk and couch in deep dark shade take up 20% of industrial embellishment details, creating a Loft-style home without losing residential warmth. CHALLENGE: The designer chose hand-dyed gray-color craft stone and vintage-style super-wearable flooring to set the tone for the living room, with sharp-cut EMT conduits and industrial-style faucet handle of electrical appliances cabinet to enhance the traits of Loft style. With the storage cabinets made of iron and wood, the other furniture helps interpret the space composed of the living room and the study room in a modest and steady way. Under the condition that their use is not affected, the Nordic-style desk and couch in deep dark shade take up 20% of industrial embellishment details, creating a Loft-style home without losing residential warmth. The homeowners are interested in cycling, so designer uses system particleboard panels as the background for the racks, a bicycle display wall equipped with function and style is successfully crafted, and the vacated space makes the circulation much easier.For the convenience to use 3c devices in the open living space, the designer cleverly had sockets installed inside the raised wooden floor, so that the homeowners, without making a change to the beautiful surroundings, are free from restraint when using them.
