| DESIGN NAME: Lulu PRIMARY FUNCTION: Side Table INSPIRATION: The round goes into the square. The challenge was to create a bold and subtile design while keeping it as simple as possible. A timeless design that still reflects the aesthetic zeitgeist of the present moment. Separated from any restrictions, speaking a free design language. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The contemporary design of Lulu side table is made from marble and powder-coated steel. The top is 1.5cm thick. Lulu combines straight geometrical lines with subtle material compositions. Here, the square steel elements support the round marble top. The pale pink top stands in nice contrast with the bright red frame of this side table. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Lulu simply consists of two parts. A cubic steel frame into which the round table plate is merely laid. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2017 in Berlin and was launched at the JOHANENLIES Showroom in Berlin in March 2017. Lulu will be presented within the Handmade in Germany Worldtour. First exhibition will be Beijing Design Week in September 2017. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The cubic steel frame is made of powder-coated steel, carrying a round table top of orient rose marble. Steel frame, powder coating as well as stonemason's work are handmade by manufactures within Germany.
