| DESIGN NAME: The Drop Bag PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bag INSPIRATION: I was always interested in making design that is simple, functional but looking different. The solution that I have used is typical for square shapes but I wanted to know if it was functional if the bag has a round shape. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The ASD bag is a leather bag which has a round shape outside and square shape inside. This helps to keep the bag stable when it is placed on a surface and to keep insides organized. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The bag can be used as an ordinary bag - it opens och closes with help of strong magnet. The square form of the inside part helps all things not to "gravitate" PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The projekt started in Stockholm in April 2017 and currently is developing further. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The construction of the bag is typical for square bags but it`ve been adapted to round shapes. The side parts was splited to change thickness and make the construction work. Materials that was used: leather (Havanna, yellow 2,2 mm), suede (unknown, 1,5 mm) Manufacturing of the bag requires very proper assembling and edge painting and has to be done by hands. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The bag : 20 cm diameter, the shoulder strap is about 120 cm, adjustable. Packaging : 240 x 255 x 80 mm. Made of red cardboard ( invercote! 330 g/m2) TAGS: round bag, the drop bag, asd bag, circle RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A short market research was made in the beginning of work with this projekt. In fact it was a collection of information om existed solutions, trends and methods. Taget grop for this produkt is young people (18 - 40 years old) which current fashion trends was studied as well. This grupp is the most attractive potentially for this type of produkt. The research was based on information from social networks such as Facebook and Pinterest. CHALLENGE: Modern graphic design has clean and clear form and colors mostly. It is minimalistic solution that " illustrates " things by using simple forms and shapes. It`s based on developing of morden technologies and visual communications that it uses (apps, logtyps, symbols, icons). It creates en understandable language, that is becoming more and more common and clear to everybody. The design of The Drop bag is based on this idea.
