| DESIGN NAME: Out Of Frame PRIMARY FUNCTION: Art Apartment INSPIRATION: The clients like to collect items from around the world, displaying them within the house. The designer decided to take an art show room as the inspiration. Keeping the space simple but with many items and details to see. The space can adapt to different styles of furniture easily. The lighting is not too strong or bright, highlighting some parts of the interior and keeping it balanced with the natural lights as an art exhibition. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The apartment was newly built. The original living room and the dining room area were in an L shape and there was no partition or walls in between. This meant the space can be used flexibly. The clients have special needs for a large dining area so the space became an advantage when we were doing the design of the interior. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: To satisfy the clients' requirement of the dining area, the designer arranges a long dining table and combines this with a marble countertop island in the long space. This dining area includes eight seats for their guests. By arranging the dining table and the island on the same axis, it shows the extensity of this space and also provides smooth circulation. It has become the most important space for the family and is easy to gather everyone together. This is our favourite part of this project. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The materials used in this apartment included steel pieces with titanium coating, pine plywood, white marble, wood herringbone parquet floor for the bedrooms and Pandomo for the public floor. The large use of white and gray paints, mixed with a main pastel green color and gold hardware accessories add a more unique personality and a warm feeling into this space. The whole space shows the co-operation and cohesion between different materials and the chosen furniture. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 137 m2 , Entrance, 1 Living Room, 1 Master Bedroom, 2 Bedrooms for Children, 2 Bathrooms, 1 Kitchen TAGS: Home , Family , Art , Frame , Gallery RESEARCH ABSTRACT: By using the same materials throughout the house, such as white marble in different areas, it helped to build cohesion in the interiors and makes the expression of the space very neat and simple. It is difficult to define a specific style of this project because of the combination of specially selected hardware accessories. The accessories made the simple look of the interiors more unique. It added character throughout the house and it can provide the feeling of being in an art gallery, with each item that you see feeling like it has an interesting story behind it. CHALLENGE: There were not many difficulties during the building process. The only thing that did cause some difficulty was obtaining some of the materials. The used hardware accessories from London brand in this project were not easy to obtain and they don't deliver to Taiwan either.
