| DESIGN NAME: Bo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chair INSPIRATION: Takao Murakami whom I have respected was a master of Windsor chair. After Murakami had passed away, I wanted to succeed his spirit. I aimed to design a light, easy to sit, yet beautiful and new Windsor chair. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Traditional Windsor styled chair has a structure that fits body with processing the material directly and using bending technique. Respecting this style, we use the latest NC processing machine technology. Thus bo chair has been made as a new Windsor chair. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It required high skill of wood work. For example we shaved out its back upright just like as if the timber is twisted. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The products were introduced to the market in 2013 and was exhibited during Milano salone in 2014. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We carve out the timber while changing the inclination of the cutting tool of the machine, so that a slender and beautiful silhouette appears with a three dimensional twisted shape.
