| DESIGN NAME: Exxeo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Luxury Hybrid Piano INSPIRATION: The project was born out of the frustration that static table-like form of traditional pianos, simply didn't fit into contemporary living environments. We believed that piano is an obvious part of modern living and should be designed to reflect that fact.Initial concepts developed based on the understanding that Everything in Existence is the result of a Frequency. Sound is the basis of of Shape and Form. We were fascinated by harmonic fluence of the sound waves. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: EXXEO is a revolutionary Hybrid Piano for contemporary spaces.We took a giant leap forward in hybrid piano design and technology, breaking free from traditional forms and sounds. Significant amount of our team’s effort has been invested into redefining the piano concept for contemporary environments and modern applications. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Fast key repetition and enhanced playing realism system, enables the pianist to achieve an extraordinary level of expressiveness, ranging from the softest pianissimo to the strongest, boldest fortissimo. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Eclipse materialized as the result of the synergy between visionary Designers and talented Engineers. The concept was born in 2015, when we met in Los Angeles/California to discuss the wild dream of creating the most beautiful modern piano in the world. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: EXXEO piano is made from Carbon Fiber Composite instead of resonant wood, which makes it much more resistant to environmental influences. Unique characteristics of this material allows the sounds to be sustained for a longer period, resulting in a rich and strong overtone. EXXEO is the only hybrid piano in the world equipped with a dedicated built-in battery. The high capacity power unit is mounted in the tail section. It enables the piano to perform up to 20 hours on a single charge. Due to its unparalleled structural rigidity and resistance to moisture, Eclipse piano is technically the perfect fit for spaces exposed to high humidity, like ocean-side villas, mega yachts and cruise ships. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: EXXEO piano captures the magnificent tone of flagship concert grand pianos. Award wining soundboard speaker system; Harmonic Imaging™ XL technology, recreates the broad dynamic range of the original grand pianos through the use of a 200 Watts, 9 speaker sound system. Unfortunately throughout the history Pianos have seen little to no major updates. Our vision is to facilitate the transition of 19th century pianos into astonishing 21st century products, through design and innovation. In order to do so, a team of award winning car designers and sound engineers in Los Angeles California dedicated their time and expertise to achieve this goal.As a musical instrument we had to make sure that we adapt the latest hybrid technology to generate the best sound and feel natural while paying. We believe that in addition to creating a beautiful audio experience, 21st century pianos should contribute to the quality of living by being visually in harmony with their new surroundings. Inspired by classic melodies, EXXEO formed as an elegant fluidic geometry.The new exotic shape needed advanced technology and materials to be manufactured, carbon fiber, aerospace aluminum, etc.As the result of this creative journey, we managed to create a piano for 21st century that has the best of both worlds. It sounds and feels like a grand concert piano, has the latest electronic features, requires zero tuning/ maintenance, and is a fantastic complimentary item to the overall design of its environment. CHALLENGE: In this project almost everything we faced was a new challenge, as we were trying to redefine the technology, form factor, and new identity of the piano at the same time. We learned that the toughest challenge was not a technical one. Being balanced, figuring out a way to keep our feet on the ground and not getting carried away was a hard task for a group of highly creative people. According to our experience staying within the realm of a futuristic yet feasible product, was the toughest challenge during this project.
