DESIGN NAME: Wan Chu
PRIMARY FUNCTION: A Restaurant
INSPIRATION: Wan Chu is inspired by An Hui's cuisine and living culture. The menu has both fine dining as well as classic An Hui's food and so the interior had to be both oriental style and distinctive.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Some of the features of this restaurant are come from AnHui's traditional culture. Unique decoration such as eramic wine jars are placed one side of the main entrance that express a warm welcome for customers. An Hui's culture has an important position and influence in Wan Chu. The most important design concept is to bring this special culture to his customers and make them to enjoy a meal in a comfortable environment.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Guests can appreciate the various atmosphere of each space, however, each layer of the space will echo Wan Chu's main menu , and therefore arouses an unique scene in diners'minds.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was located in Shen Zhen, China. It was finished in September 2015.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In the independent reception room, the combining with sloping ceiling and wooden ceiling partition creating a more expansive space and a great sense of volume; green gray walls, tiled floors, black sofa and a dusky red cupboard are used to describe the context of tranquility. The public space match color is used color specification with gray and white is given priority the public dining environment that creates nature and relaxed. Chandeliers in the center are designed as the An Hui´s popular flower: the Lotus provide a vibrant contrast, together with the strong pallet of colors. Besides, we use small stone slabs are used to strengthen the expression of the homely atmosphere and make a play of ancient commercial civilization on a small scale, the solid stone into which the sculptures are carved is to suggest the potential inherent in the history and present a buying and selling scenes in the past to visitors.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To refine a natural environment, we research different surfaces.
CHALLENGE: Aiming to reflect local philosophy whilst reinterpreting the traditional An Hui's diet culture, the layout of the restaurant is divided into different space. Hence, creating a convenient and comfortable interior space with reasonable layout become a challenge of this design.
