| DESIGN NAME: Ice Keeper PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ice bucket INSPIRATION: the inspiration of this project was the need of delivering strong message about global warming and what it can do to our cities if we don't stop the ice in the north and south poles from melting and causing floods. It was like hourglass to feel like that time is against us if we don't harry up and solve the warming problems. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Ice Keeper is an ice bucket shaped like hour glass containing the ice in the upper part and a small city in the lower part which have a clear message to spread awareness about dangers of global warming and its direct impact on all the sea side cities. The bucket have built in holder on the top of it and also the water which go to the lower part can be dropped by small hatch opening under the bucket, It also have a function of separating the water from ice to control melting. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: the ice bucket is made to store ice in the upper part, there is built in ice holder on the top of it to get ice from it and serve it, the lower part will separate the water from melting ice to control melting and to keep ice from melting as long as possible, there is small hatch in the bottom of the bucket to drop the water when it is filled. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: the project starts in April 2017 in Cairo and finished in June 2017 in Cairo FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The bucket is mainly made of glass and stainless steel top and holder, the city in the lower part is made of 3D printed wood and painted to be like areal city. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: length 20 cm width 15 cm height 30 cm TAGS: Global, Warming, Ice, Melting, bucket, hourglass RESEARCH ABSTRACT: the research was about designing a piece of furniture which has the ability to give awareness about environmental problem such as global warming.
