INSPIRATION: The iconic shape and cutting-edge style are in fusion with Hungarian heritage and international trends: the creators reimagined a bottle shape typical in the local culture, painted it in pastel colors, and made them trendy.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Whenever the words ‘laundry detergents’ are told, nearly everyone thinks about the same image all over the world. That’s what Souldrops revolutionizes. The iconic shape and cutting-edge style are in fusion with Hungarian thinking and international trends: the creators reimagined a bottle shape typical in the local culture, painted it in pastel colors, and made them trendy. Souldrops is produced as a uniquely designed detergent brand for the general market that breaks all existing rules.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Customers re-use the bottles as different design elements in their homes.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in spring 2016 and introduced to the market in February 2017.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This is a dogmatic style, where lettering and lines are design elements themselves: comprehensibility, transparency and clarity are all important. As these were the main objectives, Helvetica font was the optimal choice. To maintain the clarity of the products, we’ve opted for labeling the bottles with screen printing – which is unusual in this category – instead of using vinyl stickers. We’ve also been seeking to accentuate softness: the bottles became matte and were given mellow pastel colors.

CHALLENGE: Souldrops is a real game-changer that shakes up a whole industry where the same, dull and monotonous designs and approaches have been dominating for long decades. Not bad for a small, newborn Hungarian startup that is challenging the multinational players of the sector right now.
