DESIGN NAME: IQ Option Mobile App
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mobile Application
INSPIRATION: We have no choice but to make unbelievable product. This is our slogan and we follow it in all activities - from creating trading platform to customer service. We always strive to make the most comfortable conditions for our clients, so they can estimate all advantages of trading using our mobile app
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: New trading platform has attractive appearance. Such result was achieved by means of WebGL technology which facilitates visualization of complex 3D graphics inside the browser.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Our approach to trading is all about speed: we offer the opportunity to make profit in just 60 seconds, using sudden changes in the currency or stock rates. Traders can stay focused on the chart movements and make their forecasts more easily, trying to guess: will the price move above or below the current level? We added a lot of innovations to the interaction scenarios and changed the whole binary options industry — with an animated and rapid chart, one-click purchase, deal cancelling, and pre-expiration sell-off. In our app we combined a lot of pleasant little features and amenities, which altogether make trading more clear and interesting, just as like video games.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: From December 2013 to April 2014 in Saint Petersburg, Russia

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We’ve precisely designed about 40 pages presenting all active and basic states for 8 screen sizes — from 320 x 480px (iPhone 4) up to 414 x 736px (iPhone 7 Plus), as well as various Android-based mobile devices. Over 200 versatile files made in Photoshop and Sketch. Additional user interactions were designed with Principle and After Effects for more complicated singular representation. To make our app truly unique, we have focused on the fundamental trading qualities: a built-from-scratch OpenGL chart with a whole range of indicators. iOS interfaces were programmed on Objective-C and later rewritten with modern Swift. Android app was coded with Java.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: A responsive application design works really well on devices of all popular resolutions. Interface flexibly adapts to screen size and shows controls for more accurate and efficient on-the-go trading.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: For several months we were examining contemporary trading platforms — both for desktops and mobile devices. All the solutions we managed to find were rather complicated for an average user, and our task was to simplify the process. For quite a long time we were in close contact with traders who provided feedback on the most necessary things from a huge range of desired features. After the first prototypes were created, we did an eye-tracking usability research to identify weaknesses in our interface and as a result improved it significantly.
CHALLENGE: The key mission was to engineer a fast, simple and efficient chart that supports smooth zooming animation — a feature that none of the apps yet had. A few iterations and 2 months later we made a chart written in C++ with the use of OpenGL in the core — this allowed us to deliver the very best viewing experience for 60-second trades. When the time came for implementing new trading tools, we also encountered the need to write an engine that could plot the chart while reflecting the missing time intervals — on those days when stock exchanges are closed. We faced yet another prominent challenge just before the release: we had to outrank the existing solutions in terms of speed and internal perfection to enable maximum scaling in the future.
