DESIGN NAME: MY DIARY AT FLORENCE
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Scarf
INSPIRATION: Masterful Chinese calligraphy is nicely incorporated with colorful crayon, to develop a free flowing, graceful way of expressing the romance of Italian lifestyle, and this is how the artist celebrates self-expression, based on respect for diversity as well as integration of Chinese and Western culture.
Underneath the stream of consciousness, the artist focuses on a core theme, Who Am I? This is the original force that grabs and attracts the artist to pursue her dream, and finally leads her way to Florence, Italy, where she studies art at the most prestigious Academia di Belle Arti di Firenze.
She was lost at first in the collision of Chinese and Western culture and the mingle of traditional and modern value. Till she starts to write a journal with crayon by utilizing the technique of Chinese calligraphy, as a way to keep an overview of her thinking, and thus My Diary at Florence was borne.
Her work reflects the influence of Chinese calligraphy, and generates an intense but abstracted charm, resulting in a sophisticated and modern appearance. It also creates a graceful and stylish atmosphere by creatively mixing different shapes and colors in such harmony. The smooth combination is the unique and innovative character of this design.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: There’re 9 pieces of work on display. By series of diaries of my experience in Florence, the work reflects the journey of the heart of a young foreign artist in this exceptional country of art. The fusion of Chinese and western culture is expressed in a graceful way of combining Chinese calligraphy and Italian art.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This scarf is a precious blend of silk and wool. The all-over print duplicates a delicate pattern, lightweight and enveloping. It is perfect for any season. The multi-coloured central print, inspired by the CUIN design motif
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2015 and finished in Janurary 2016.
