| DESIGN NAME: Urban Oasis PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Apartment INSPIRATION: Life has multiple dimensions, and so should the space we live in. The project forms the living environment to interact with its inhabitants and echoes their way of living. The warm and cheerful lighting subtly integrated throughout and further energizing the space. Residents personal characters are the key to the design and profoundly embedded in the space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project aims to provide a solution to harmonically accommodate diverse lifestyles of a modern family of four. The flow in the space provides the essential link between the residents’ personal characters. The space is enriched by the selection of various textures and patterns of metal and stone materials. Together with the vibrant color choices of the furniture, the design provides a lush experience for the residents while reflecting their personal tastes and styles at the same time. Furthermore, the warm and cheerful lighting subtly integrated throughout and further energizing the space. Our design makes a statement about the owner which ensures that each space has its own identity. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We simplified and optimized the combination of the materials used in order to link the spaces and enhance the atmosphere. The execution resulted in the smooth visual flow along the ceiling, floor and walls. The uninterrupted visual flow of the open-plan layout links the living area, the dining room and the kitchen. By retaining this continuous flow, the design relates the space and family together in harmony. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The space is enriched by the selection of various textures and patterns of metal and stone materials, together with the vibrant color choices of the furniture. We attempt to find a new way to design the wall with metal and tiles, which allow client to display audio speakers. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 212.5 square meter. We rearrange the space distribution; therefore, an intermediary corridor is created to function as the neutral space and the junction where the lives and different personalities of the family engage. TAGS: Interior, Design, Home, Apartment, Decoration, Furniture, Residence RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project forms the living environment to interact with its inhabitants and echoes their way of living. Residents personal characters are the key to the design and profoundly embedded in the space. Extensive investigation and discussion had been conducted to understand the preference and needs of each individual. CHALLENGE: The ceiling height in this project was low compared to the relatively large site area. Multiple beams were also present in the ceiling and created the enclosed feeling in the space. Therefore, we elevated part of the ceiling and added open cell timber structure in between the steps. This solution not just visually raised an extended the ceiling, but also create a new style in the design at the same time. We believe every projects should be unique and dedicate to the personality of the inhabitant we designed for.
