DESIGN NAME: Space Edge
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pent house Interior Design
INSPIRATION: Inspired by the Aero Dynamic concept, we have incorporated the space making the client feel like living in the sky. To compliment the concept, flowing forms and angular forms are designed right from the floor to the walls and the ceilings and also painted panels of Aerospace are used in bathrooms as well as at the sliding windows instead of curtains and blinds. The forms chosen are fluid and sleek to create a lighter and more spacious feel.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project involved a couple of stages starting from discussing the design brief with the client, to concept , technical drawings and site visits. Our approach towards this project was both modern and futuristic. We looked at all the possibilities at the very start of the project.
During our first visit at the raw flat, overwhelmed with the view from the terraces. We wanted to take complete advantage of this, and hence we thought of incorporating the Aerodynamic concept for the penthouse.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The penthouse has two floors. The formal living, dining, informal living, kitchen, guest room, servant room and open terrace occupy the first floor.
The entrance lobby opens up in the informal living space on the right which flows into the formal living space opposite to it. The passage leads to the kitchen which flows into the dining area. The guest room and servant room are adjacent to the dining and kitchen respectively.
The second floor is designed to have more of private spaces like the mandir, daughter's, master and son's bedroom and a informal television room.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2015 and finished in August 2016 in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The entrance lobby of both floors are accentuated with aluminium battens.
Full height glass in the staircase area makes the space look much brighter.
The basic palette of natural woods, whites, grey's with accents like red, blue, green color for the bedrooms are adopted.
Italian Botticino Marble for Flooring and cladding, sleek leather furnishings, Tipwood for Headboard, slim cove cuts in the false ceiling lighting with LED strips.
Paint lamination and American Walnut veneer for furniture finishes.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Every project is new and exciting for us. Each project comes with some challenges and brings contentment as it progresses. There have been a few projects which have been immensely satisfying and this is definitely one of them. The pleasure of creation of this penthouse can never be forgotten. Also the fact that the client were happy with the outcome makes us happy.
From the 14th floor, one can have a view of the city and from the 15th floor a glimpse of a Hill view.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To compliment with the Aero Dynamic concept of free flowing and angular forms. This forms are used in combination of different materials, keeping continuity in the design pattern. Aluminium battens are used with free flowing and angular forms in furniture right at the entrance. The same design pattern is also incorporated in Botticino Marble in the Bathrooms. In the bedrooms, Aerospace printed sliding panels also adhere to the concept. The bed back is been designed with Vertical Tipwood battens.
CHALLENGE: The client couple being Doctors by profession, we had a challenge of designing their residence in such a way that they should feel fresh after coming back home from hospital and their medical routine. The residence being high rise pent house located on the 14th and 15th floor with scenic views. So, we took this challenge and designed a futuristic and aerodynamic conceptual house.
