| DESIGN NAME: Lin PRIMARY FUNCTION: Low table INSPIRATION: The idea is to design something essential inspired by Asian element. Lin is the image of a Dragon which is a legendary and holy creature features in Asian myth covered with scales. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Lin symbolizes Dragon and the use of the textured leather is to represent dragon scales while the shape is strong yet elegant and easy to match with any other objects. It is a basic item and at the same time the key element to create unique ambiance to the space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Lin is a large size yet quite easy to handle, and since it is a one piece structure, it is very strong that adults can sit or stand on it. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Design process started in November 2013 and completed in January 2014, and was exhibited in partnership with industry+ in National Design Centre Singapore, in 11 March 2014. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Lin table is done by using one piece of moulded panel to simplify the fabrication methods which traditionally using a separate top and legs. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1150mmWx1150mmDx300m TAGS: dragon table,lin table,leather table,crocodile table,moulded table RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Could not find a luxury look of modern low table therefore studying the shape and material that simply feel luxury and at the same time able to create unique modern shape, thus curve shape and crocodile embossed leather were chosen. CHALLENGE: To find the correct curve shape, which led to the idea of one piece structure in plywood mould that also make sense for leather wrapping finish.
