| DESIGN NAME: Veizla Side Table PRIMARY FUNCTION: Side Table INSPIRATION: Due to the success of the Veizla dining furniture, to create a side table was a logic continuation of the product line. The vision of the product line is to create informality with elegance. To encourage social interaction amongst people by creating furniture that makes you feel welcome and engaged. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Veizla Side Table is a further product line development of the unique furniture designed and produced by Pemara Design. Its tripod legs are based on the same angles and splaying as for the Veizla Dining Table. The table top is a fusion of an equilateral triangle and a circle. Formal yet playful. Placed between two easy chairs by a wall, the shape invites conversation and social interaction. Placed with a statement chair in a corner of a room, the table sits snugly to the chairs side. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Veizla Side Table is very versatile and can easily be customized in terms of wood used and table top material. Placed by itself it is a beautiful and elegant piece. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project to create a side table started in February 2017 and the finished product was ready May 2017. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Like the Veizla dining table, both under-carriage and table top are made from solid wood. It can be produced in any available or desired wood. The under carriage is made with stretchers to carry the table top, and the construction is strong enough to carry other table top materials such as lacquered wood, laminates, stone and glass, making the design extremely versatile and customizable. The table will look and work equally good with a round table top. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 750mm x Depth 750mm x Height 540mm. TAGS: side table, coffee table, low table, table, veizla, wood, solid wood, tripod RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Already knowing the materials the side table would initially be made from, it was much more about dimensions. How wide it should be, big enough to be comfortable for use, small enough not to be overpowering. The height was equally important. Ergonomically correct for sitting on a chair or easy chair and reach for what might have been left on the table or for setting down a cup of tea or coffee. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to create a side table that would fit in well with the rest of the Pemara Design product lines. NAME: Pemara Design PROFILE: Pemara Design is an Irish furniture design company with roots deep in the Danish design traditions, focusing on the development of our own unique furniture. The company was founded by Danish designer Per Ploug, who has worked in the furniture industry for more than 20 years as a kitchen designer. Combining his many years of experience, his engineering skills and his knowledge of good interior design, made him form and create a unique dining table, which soon after was put into production. Other products, such as a complimentary bench and a chair, have since followed. The products are available through selected furniture retailers in Ireland, and we are expanding our market to the rest of Europe and beyond. |
