PRIMARY FUNCTION:
3D puzzle

INSPIRATION:
The project was developed for all children, but especially for my little son. With the goal of not only being a toy, but a key tool, a way for children to explore and discover their true identity. Feeling free to create and transform the toy into whatever they pleasure. For this reason, the format of each module was inspired by an unfamiliar object, such as a stone, to stimulate thought and fantasy.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Quebra-Pedra is a 3D puzzle inspired by old buildings structured entirely with stones without mortar. Every toy piece is similar to a stone. And all of them was created from an algorithm named Voronoi which engender irregular shapes dockable with each other through random points in the 3d plane. To guide the construction, each stone has two colored faces with a corresponding one in which it fits. The toy modules are produced by the CAD/CAM system: it can be made by technology of laser cutting or made through 3d printing.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Quebra-Pedra is a toy/play solution that looking for to connect educational prospects, through logical-mathematical reasoning and motor development because of activities that involves the whole body, with the formal aesthetic universe and its benefits, which create a whole world of imaginative and freedom feelings in the child. Was developed with the intention of being not only an object/toy but a key tool for children to turn it into whatever them want: a puzzle, a hut, a wall, a race track, a bench or a tambor. Is inserted into the routine of the child in various environments (outdoor or indoor), and may even become part of the decoration of the children's environment as a bench or table of support.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in March 2016 in Curitiba and finished in February 2017 in Curitiba, and was exhibited in Federal University of Parana in February 2017.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
As the toy was modeled from an algorithm in 3D software, the manufacturing system selected was CAD / CAM (computer-aided design / computer-aided manufacturing). The pieces are planned and laser cut into cardboard. Another option would be to make polymer on a smaller scale through 3D printing.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Composed of 12 modules that are multifaceted and different from each other, which fit in a certain position forming a parallelepiped of height of 25 cm, length of 100 cm and width of 50 cm.
