DESIGN NAME: Quebra-Pedra Puzzle 3D
PRIMARY FUNCTION: 3D puzzle
INSPIRATION: A project for all children, but dedicated to my little son. Crafted to be a key tool for discovery, adventure and exploration of the inner self and their environments.
The freedom to create, transform and rearrange as the children desire unfamiliar objects, liftable stone-like shapes, awakening an unmistakable sense of fantasy.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Being digitally crafted by a irregular, dockable shape generator algorithm named Voronoi, bringing random 1s and 0s to the children living rooms via laser cutting paperboard or 3D printing techniques.
In order to guide the construction, each stone-like shape has two designated colored faces, corresponding to it's similarly assigned counterpart.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Quebra-Pedra is a toy/play solution that looking for to connect educational prospects, through logical-mathematical reasoning and motor development because of activities that involves the whole body, with the formal aesthetic universe and its benefits, which create a whole world of imaginative and freedom feelings in the child. Was developed with the intention of being not only an object/toy but a key tool for children to turn it into whatever them want: a puzzle, a hut, a wall, a race track, a bench or a tambor. Is inserted into the routine of the child in various environments (outdoor or indoor), and may even become part of the decoration of the children's environment as a bench or table of support.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2016 in Curitiba and finished in February 2017 in Curitiba, and was exhibited in Federal University of Parana in February 2017.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This toy was modeled via an algorithm, the manufacturing system selected by default was CAD / CAM (computer-aided design / computer-aided manufacturing). Each module is planned for paperboard laser cutting or 3D printing for smaller scales.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Composed by 12 multifaceted, each one unique modules, which when ensembled form a parallepiped of 25 cm height and 100 cm length and 50 cm wight.
