| DESIGN NAME: Artist PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pendant lamps INSPIRATION: We have been inspired from the very fine works of traditional silversmiths, and the objective has been to design a very modern yet contemporary piece. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The ARTIST pendants are designed extremely slim-line with a very high output and yet a very comfortable light, and even dimmeble. Thanks to the way we designed the inner parts of the lamp, the light itself is distributed absolutely evenly from the opalized shade. We also designed the mounting of the opalized shade with no visible screws or brackets. The design or form-factor is so streamline and smooth - almost as if we designed it in one single line without lifting the pencil from the paper. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Since the height of the lamp is so low and slimline, it may be hung rather low over dinning table to create intimate atmosphere and at the same time be able to see the person on the opposite side of the table. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Designed in Denmark 2014-2015 It was exhibited in Light & Building, Stockholm Furniture Fair, Euroluce Milan and more. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Traditional metal pressing combined with hi end led technology SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: ø400 x 38 mm ø250 x 38mm TAGS: artist, pendant, bonnelycke, dftp, nordlux RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research has mainly been in the field of transporting light from a horizontally orientated light source to a vertically useful illumination. The finding was that we were able to change the direction of light by silkscreening an internal sheet of glass. CHALLENGE: Challenge has been to obtain the very low profile, and at the same time have an even light distribution over the large opalized surface. Second challenge has been to design the opalized shade so no screws or brackets would be visible.
