| DESIGN NAME: Zest Lifestyle Cafe PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cafe INSPIRATION: The branding, lighting and interior design take inspiration from Miami South Beach and Sydney Bondi Beach combined with the citrus groves of Lenkaran, the subtropical southern region of Azerbaijan. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: An innovative combination of cafe, bar, wine shop and concept store. Fresh design concept inspired by citrus and vitamins. The highest ceiling point at 8,5 meters is covered with Vitamin Spritz a large lighting art installation, made of 101 globes and 2500 rods of translucent yellow, orange and lime floating in space while gently pulsing through the day and evening as part of a sophisticated scenography. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Zest lifestyle café provides guests with an all immersive environment of laid-back luxury merging art, retail, bar and dining, this includes a flower atelier, exclusive books, cult fragrances, limited-edition urban vinyl art, a coffee bar, a patisserie, a salad pantry, pizza oven and all day café. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: it took 8 weeks of research and 6 month of design from London and Miami, opened in 2015. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The central piece is the massive ceiling art installation made of acrylic sculptures floating in space, activated by dimming DMX controls to create a constant change of mood. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 700 SqM bar, cafe, shop open from early morning to late night. TAGS: zest, lifestyle cafe, cafe concept, Henry Chebaane, blue sky hospitality, citrus concept, cafe design, concept store RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The modern Mediterranean cuisine is focused on health and wellness with inspiration taken from across Turkey, Lebanon, Greece, Spain and Sicily as well as local dishes rich in fruits, herbs and vegetables.The entire space invigorates customers with a crisp palette of pale oak, white marble, linen Corian and polished stainless steel punctuated by pops of vibrant citrus colours. Modernist furniture, intricate custom millwork and numerous design details deliver a cosmopolitan vibe with strong style but understated elegance. CHALLENGE: Creative challenge was to create an all day cafe that can service large volume of breakfast in the morning then become a hip dining place during the rest of the day. Very high ceiling, large volume and daylight had to be made intimate and cosy through the use of fresh colours, soft material and humour in the detail.
