| DESIGN NAME: Calculock PRIMARY FUNCTION: Clock INSPIRATION: Calculock is a kind of clock inspired by Iranian traditional abacuses. Each of its light houses are indicators of one of the abacus beads and it goal to combine tradition and modernity and creating sense of pleasure of passing time in the living place. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Calculock is consisted of a carbon fiber is located in a very beautiful aluminum frame. It has 132 light houses that show hour, minute and second. This clock is continuously changing and its light houses are continuously turning on and turning off. In order know the time, the user should count the number of light houses. It is formed with the combination of tradition and modernity, is designed to create a dynamic atmosphere in inactive places and sense of pleasure of passing time. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Passing the time with turning on and turning off the light houses, is a sense that is conveyed to the user. Calculock is the cause of creating dynamism in inactive atmosphere of the house. Considering the interactive and emotional factors of design in this clock, it is possible to use it in various places and by various users. This clock is designed to create a different sense of life atmosphere. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Calculock is consisted of a carbon fiber that is located in an aluminum frame and some light houses that show hour, minute and second. Digital board and Rechargeable battery has made this clock dynamic and Attractive in order to give user the sense of pleasure of passing the time. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: L300 mm × W300 mm LCD screen with 132 light houses that 12 houses of the first column from the left show 12 hours, next 5 columns show 60 minutes and 5 last columns show 60 seconds. TAGS: clock, abacuse, tradition, modern RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Calculock is designed with inspiration of Iranian traditional abacuses and their attractive performance. A research about the abacuses, their performance and using them in order to give a very attractive interactive and emotional concept. CHALLENGE: The main challenge is the harmonization of form and function and combination of tradition and modernity in a concept from clock, dynamism of the form, a new function, attraction for creating interaction and positive emotion between the user and the product and also developing the sense of pleasure from passing the time.
