DESIGN NAME: Urban Renewal of Crecchio Old Town
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Public Areas
INSPIRATION: Landscape, History, and the local tradition.
The medieval camp becomes square, tripods become streetlights.
The battlements of the castle year iinspired the form of bollard that become simultaneously bench and lamp.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The architectural language chosen seeks to create a union between uniqueness of spaces and objects designed and a strict and rigid simplification of the new lines and new surfaces in the project.
All this for to try to achieve a harmony between the new and the existing, not to prevail from a stylistic point of view the first to the second.
The restoration and innovation of public spaces in an old town
through use and reuse of traditional materials with a contemporary design. The transformation of existing elements in new objects with different functions.
Chromatic harmony with the medieval town and landscape.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: some spaces, can be used as parking area and how the exhibition area.
The cubes of corten steel "cubitria" function as bollards, seats and can be disassembled and reassembled differently.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Il The project started in 2012 and completed in 2016 in Crecchio,(Ch).

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Corten steel was used for the cube traffic bollards and for the lighting system. This material has the advantage to reduce the maintenance costs and, furthermore, its natural rusty look, is really evocative of the past.
The local sandstone used pei retaining walls, balustrades, small walls of street furniture.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: public space of over 3000 square meters, used for parties, concerts, exhibitions and events.
