DESIGN NAME: Samopev
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Packaging
INSPIRATION: The inspiration and challenge was to design contemporary packaging based on the specific properties of using such specific sort of packaging which is not usually considered as a designer piece.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Packaging series for dry construction material of the brand Samopev. The basic idea in the design is to color code the bags because of the unique postion they are stacked and displayed in the shop. The colors help distinquish different products and give life to the cold construction material. On the front there are pictures of each product in use and the pictures are placed over the margines of the front, going to the sides of the packaging, so that the product looks visually bigger.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The packaging for dry construction material is stacked in a specific matter. Color-coding the packaging series improved the labelling and recognition of each product for the customer. On the packaging EAN coded were applied on three sides, which improved the handling of the cashers.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2016 and finished in January 2017 in Italy and Croatia.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: -
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Several slightly different dimensions of the bags/sacks were produced for eight products, depending on the need of each. The visual were printed in offset on a hard paper material with a double poly layer and air holes specific for dry construction material.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The bags/sacks were produced in 75,000 quantity in the first series and are selling in over 20 shopping centres.
CHALLENGE: The challenge on this design project was to learn the characteristics of the specific non every day designed product, and give it a more esthetic and more functional design.
