RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The United Nations states that by 2050, about 66% of the world's population will be urbanized. Currently about 82% in North America live in urban environments, and about 73% in Europe. This means less space for everyone. We also recognize the need and fast moving trend of creating sustainability by growing your own food at home. We wanted to provide an opportunity for Urban Environments to enjoy the therapy and health benefits of growing food at home. We realize the importance, the benefits and the freedom that comes from this. This is why at Vita we say: The World Needs Vegetables!
CHALLENGE: The challenge to this design was to create something both aesthetic, and completely functional / expandable. Something that could easily and subtly fit inside one's living space. A huge financial commitment took place, as the molds and tooling was extremely expensive. We had many changes an updates to make the product more improved in many ways.
