| DESIGN NAME: Mandani Bay Sales Gallery PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sales Gallery INSPIRATION: The design concept is generating the modern city of Cebu and also the culture of Cebu: Passion for culture, Adventure, Creativity, and Water. Cebu is a well-known city for beaches and waterfalls, the design language is using the local metal in mirror finish to create the flooding shining water elements. The courtyard surrounded by water, use of local wood and stone. The design is also generated with famous local designer from architectural elements, fixtures, installation to furniture. The furniture design is continually being used based on the design elements of architecture and bring it to the interior space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Arriving in Cebu in the 1500s with Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, Antonio Pigafetta, a Venetian scholar, writes in his book, “First Voyage Around the World”, of a chieftain named Apo Noan from a settlement called ‘Mandani’, known today as Mandaue. Inspired by this rich chapter of Cebu’s history, Mandaue’s premier modern community embraces its storied past as it looks to the future. Mandani Bay sales gallery is a 2000 meter square sales gallery located in Cebu, Philippines. The gallery is a full scale exhibition area that gives viewers an idea of the identity of Mandani Bay residence like. It is an experiential display that feature with large scale models, a kids’ room, an AV room, a courtyard, show flats negotiation rooms, and a space for holding future events. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The material sourcing in Philippines is a big challenges for us, as we are not familiar with the local supplier and market, especially when the contractor submitting some material which are not our intent, so we tried to search the material, furniture, sanitary etc. in the internet, and also the search it in the industrial area, shopping mall by ourselves. The lack of material in the site is a big issue, so we have come up with different design at the site to solve the material problem. Moreover, the continuity design languages with the exterior and interior is a successful outcome, as we form the furniture design with the famous local designer, and explore the possibilities of furniture design.
