| DESIGN NAME: Taured PRIMARY FUNCTION: Decorative clock INSPIRATION: Parallel time space. In 1954, there was a man at Tokyo's airport holding a strange passport. He was therefore taken by the Customs into the interrogation room, but was then vanished after several hours. He has disappeared in the space of time. He said he came from "Taured " UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Time, an enormous dimension! It is not rare to hear stories of events happened in different time space; it is always mysterious, unexplainable but yet fascinating. This project is not only just designing a clock, but also show the interesting idea of the designer about TIME. On the other hand, by using the high-end material and finish, this clock would also be a beautiful decoration. Titanium plated mirror clock face symbolizes time and coexisting parallel time space. On the clock, using 3D-printed two mini persons and a mini dog with reflection of the mirror to depict the different time space. The clock's base is made out of a whole piece of marble. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: To view it from the front might find it looks just like any other ordinary clock. But when the viewer looks closely, there are details with 3D objects on the clock's surface. Through the reflection from titanium-plated mirror and different angles of the viewer, various notions about space are generated; hence respond to the temporal paradox. The design concept of Time - distinct stories happen at the same time period but in different time space. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Taured clock is built with three different kinds of material. The clock surface was cut from 3mm steel plate by CNC laser cutting machine, and in order to titanium plating, the surface need to be fine polisheded. The mini objects were created with 3D program and 3D printing, finished with brass plating. A whole piece of marble was cut and polished by craftsman, became the clock's base. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 300mmx100mmx305mm TAGS: Clock, 3D-printed, Marble, Decoration RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: After I have heard the story of Taured's temporal paradox, the idea of this design concept has come to my mind. But the only difficulty is that "how to make the concept of Time into an actual product?" The final decision was a "clock."
