The starting point of the project has been the study of new generation's habits in terms of ironing. The millennials in fact, differently from the previous generation, iron less often and usually just if it is necessary, like people who have to wear a shirt for working. Having as target users who iron just 1 or 2 clothes but daily has brought to change the traditional shape of the object, in order to make the ironing process faster in every phase.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The iron has been designed in order to be compact, thanks to the water tank which now becomes the handle itself, and always ready to be used, thanks to a basement which provides the heating of the steam plate. This new aesthetics and interaction makes it an iron which can be shown and present in every part of the house, and not just hidden in a wardrobe like traditional irons.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The iron is composed by the main body and the handle, moreover the rechargable base. The handle is a water thank itself. Between the handle and the main body, there are: the circular controls (where the user can set the iron's power) and a circular led that become blue when the iron needs to be recharged into the base. In the opposite handle's side there is a button that allows steam to come out.

Ironing habits are changing. Young people spend less time in ironing but do it more frequently than their mothers did in the past. From this modern and future behaviour the necessity to have an iron more compact and quicker to use than the current products.
The hardest part of our design it has been to destabilise the normal shape of the traditional iron. To change the perspective of how people interact with the normal Irons and how behaviours and lifestyle could change with new products.change with new products.
