| DESIGN NAME: Poly Garden Sales Center PRIMARY FUNCTION: To promote apartment sales INSPIRATION: The project is located in a town, called Duanzhou, was changed to Zhaoqing, meaning "the auspicious beginning of a festival", by an 8th Emperor Song Huizong in Song Dynasty (AD 1118). He possessed many talents during his childhood such as painting, horse riding, archery, and calligraphy. He created a Chinese calligraphy font by later generations called "Shoujinti" UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is locating in Zhaoqing, and Zhaoqing is a prefecture-level city in west end of Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province, China. Zhaoqing Poly Garden is a multi-family residential project, which was developed by state-own developer, Poly Real Estate. The entire project covers an area of 140,000 square meters with buildable area of 360,000 square meters. The project is considered to be the major residential development to upgrade the living standard level in this city. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: An Octagonal-shape Hall is constructed to serve the congregating point of the traffic flow. The Hall connects the model display area on the southeast with the bar and negotiating area on the northwest. It opens toward southwest to link to the lobby where all the buyers come from. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The sales presentation center started in May of 2015 and ended in September of 2016. The location is in a city called Zhaoqing. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Poly Garden Sales Center is designed to reflect the sense of elegance with grandeur, which is inspired by Western and Oriental elements. The color palette of black, grey and white was developed from the inspiration of calligraphy brush, ink and ink stone. The majestic sensation was achieve by building an Octagonal hall with a stunning arched glass dome, a chandelier in black metal, and the distinctive brackets in black metal extended from floor as if the entire space was elevated from the ground. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The sales presentation center area is 950 square meters. The highest ceiling sits at 13.3 meters in height, and lowest ceiling is at 3.2 meters in height. Model area is 104 square meters and bar area is 93.6 square meters whereas the central hall has 210 square meters of space. The clients demand for a unique sales center with a touch of local oriental culture. CHALLENGE: Original structure has no skylight in the center of the building. In order to bring large influx of sunlight into the inner building, we took a courtyard space concept found in Southern China local architecture to create a 14 meters height dome with skylight. Not only it gives the space a sense of grandeur, but also it allows ample natural light to be shone through.
