| DESIGN NAME: Knirps Side Post Sun Umbrella PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sun-Umbrella INSPIRATION: Our task was to bring in the core values from Knirps heritage and extend their sun-umbrella range with a new innovative side post parasol. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Knirps Side Post Sun Umbrella is the perfect link from an elegant, clear and modern design to extremely user-friendly functions. The parasol shows the technical competence of the brand. The minimalistic design and the innovative solution for the tilting function of the cover are a perfect combination unified in this sun-umbrella. The position of the umbrella cover can be easily adjusted by the easy-to-use tilt function. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: High end quality cover material, stain repellent, with extremely high UV protection factor (SPF 80 as per UV-Standard 801) in several classical colors. Solid, sturdy, clearely design aluminum profiles. Foldable tilting handle. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 360° Rotation. Canopy Size 340cm. Height Open: 265cm. Height Closed: 295cm. The user just hast to unlock the tilting lock and can easily bring the cover into the desired position. NAME: Knirps Licence Corporation GmbH & Co. KG PROFILE: THE INVENTOR OF THE FOLDING UMBRELLA. A war injury made it difficult for Hans Haupt to carry both a walking stick and an umbrella, so he set about creating a solution. The result? The first umbrella with a telescopic frame. It fit neatly in his pocket, and was always available when it rained! Being so small, it was natural that he referred to it as his tiny 'tot' - a young child - and that is where the brand name Knirps comes from, as ‘knirps’ means ‘tot’ in German. In 1928, a company called Bremshey & Co could see the potential for such a product and helped produce the first varieties of this innovative pocket umbrella. It was the beginning of a new era, and many different sizes, shapes and colors were developed. New and innovative materials were used, and daring constructions were created with many of them setting the standard for how umbrellas should be, like the first automatic version in 1965, and the new Knirps XI in 2004, the smallest Knirps of all time. In 2012 Knirps extended their product range with the first sun-umbrella. Knirps umbrellas are conceived, designed and engineered in Germany, and that on its own is a guarantee of quality, safety and innovation. With our in-house engineering, research and design facilities, we are always looking to make our excellent products even better. Knirps products are different because they are designed and made differently. Built to be used in the wettest of weathers, they can and do last a very long time. Materials are high quality so that they work better. Attention to detail and quality control is part of the way the firm conducts business, and it shows. To be sure of this, we put our products through rigorous testing in wind tunnels and anti-corrosion laboratory. |
