DESIGN NAME:
Greed

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Table and chair

INSPIRATION:
After going to college,I looked back on my childhood, and I came to an understanding that anything in excess - the foundation for greed - is useless and unnecessary in my life. So I tried to demonstrate this self-reflection of my childhood. The numerous legs are like bumps that poke at my subconscious that bring about my past negative feelings of greed. Like the four legs that support the table, in our life, we should be mindful of what is essential in our lives as well.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
There ought to be a feeling of unease and discomfort which will serve as a reminder of people’s greed. The extraneous number of legs of both the table and the chair symbolize such greed. The section of the table connected directly to the cluster of of legs, expresses the descending negative void of of greed. The process to achieve this effect was done personally using diverse fox and tail joinery techniques without requiring much other equipment.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
When people use this table and chair set, it should impart on the user the idea that being greedy is superfluous. There ought to be a feeling of unease and discomfort which will serve as a reminder of people’s greed.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
I was very negative student. I always tried to do my best and wanted to be a top. This thinking made me to become a right person for society. However, personally, I wasn't happy. The greed that want to be a top was bothering me always and made me to push myself down. Based on this experience, I wanted to make furniture that reminds people that the greed makes us unhappy. So, the concept for this chair was 'GREED' and make people to feel uncomfortable when they are using this. It's not totally uncomfortable but just bother the user and make them to think the intention of the maker.

CHALLENGE:
Making a feeling of unease and discomfort which can serve as a reminder of people’s greed.
