| DESIGN NAME: Lahore Lahore Hai PRIMARY FUNCTION: Time-lapse Video INSPIRATION: Project Duration: 1:30 sec Location: This project was shot in Lahore; a wonderful city in Pakistan; which was the regional capital of the Mughal Empire in the 16th century.This beauteous city is also known as the Cultural Heart of Pakistan. This is my tribute to City Lahore. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The first sequence is a time lapse video. There will be series of video coming soon to showcase several historical places and rich heritage of City Lahore. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: I took a sequence of frames (3000 photographs approx.) with a manual white balance, shutter speed and aperture. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Photographs were taken mainly with Nikon D5200 and some shots with Nikon D75 SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Sequencing was done in After effects. Software used for Post Production and Video Editing: Adobe Aftereffects & Adobe Premiere Pro CC TAGS: Time-lapse Video - Lahore City - Pakistan - Historical places in Pakistan RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Lahore has served as the regional capital of various empires namely: the Hindu Shahi Kingdom in the 11th century; the Ghaznavids in the 12thcentury; the Ghurid State in the 12th & 13th centuries; and the Mughal Empire in the 16th century. Lahore was the cultural center of the northern Indian subcontinent, which extends from the eastern banks of the Indus River to the present Indian capital, New Delhi. This beauteous city is also known as the Cultural Heart of Pakistan; it hosts most of the arts, cuisine, festivals, music, film-making, gardening and intellectuals of the country. Furthermore, Lahore is the principal center of literary, educational and cultural activities of Pakistan; 80% of Pakistan’s books are published there. Lahore contains some stunning examples of Mughal architecture that are major tourist attractions, such as the Badshahi Mosque (Masjid), the Lahore Fort, Shalimar Gardens, and the mausoleums of Jehangir and Nur Jahan. There are also numerous temples, mosques, shrines and churches there too. The purpose of this time lapse video is to give people an experience of gorgeous Lahore. The first sequence is a time lapse video. The ones following it are many sequences highlighting several places. A famous saying in Urdu is “Lhor Lhor Aye”(Lahore Lahore Aye) meaning Lahore is Lahore. This short but apt phrase encompasses all that is unique about unparalleled Lahore. Another famous saying in Punjabi is “Jinney Lore (Lahore) Nai Way-kay-ya, O Jamiya Hi Nai”. This one means that: Whoever hasn’t seen Lahore, is not (truly) born. Or rather it means that if you haven’t been to Lahore, then you have majorly missed out. CHALLENGE: The hardest part was to maintain similar lighting in different locations during different parts of the day. I took almost 3000 photographs of different locations. Another challenge was to capture as many locations as I could, there are many other beautiful outdoor and indoor places that will be captured in the upcoming sequence. This is the first initiative to display beauty of the historical city Lahore.
