PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Luminaire

INSPIRATION:
The particular shape of the annular luminaire is inspired by king snake and the phenomenon of the self-cannibalism; If these snakes get too hot, they begin to eat their own tails, creating a circle. There happens a self-cannibalism cycle between LED lamp and Si based solar cell located in the head and the tail of the luminaire. Cannibalumin brings a sense of modernity to the atmosphere of the home.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
"Cannibalumin" comes from two words of "Cannibal" and "Luminaire";. This eye-catching designincludes a LED light source on the head part of it having a wavelength in 400-1100 nm and a seperateable solar panel (Si based solar cells) that get charged by both light of the LED and the direct sunlight. The placement angle of the light has been designed with regard to ergonomic standards in a way that it provides a better diffusion and illumination.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Autonomous power of LED and Si based solar cell, joining multi-function and aesthetic beauty together, emotional connection between picopus and the users and also bringing a sense of modernity to atmosphere of the home.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in September 2016 in Tehran and finished in January 2017 in Tehran.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The main body is made of black anodized metal, LED lamp with wavelength in 400-1100 nm and a solar panel (Si based solar cell)

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The radius of the pipe is 1.5 cm and the radius of the circle is 15 cm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The "Cannibalumin" is designed with the inspiration of the king snake and the phenomenon of the self-cannibalism. A research about the snakes and cannibalism conducted conceptually during the structural and emotional design process of the project.

CHALLENGE:
The main challenge is to join function and aesthetic beauty in on new concept of luminaire, saving energy, using solar panels instead of expensive energy, adjustable form, angle and amount of light for variable uses at the same time and providing better diffusion and illumination, making emotional connection between cannibalumin and the users and finally bring a sense of modernity to the atmosphere of the home.
