DESIGN NAME: Progressive and Seclusive
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Public Space
INSPIRATION: Inspiring within a linear space a flowing ambiance as articulated by the contrasting elements between excess and void, light and shadow.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a three dimensional public space consisting of the lobby, backyard, and the cellar. The two-storied high backyard is an open space with natural lights, shadows, and green vegetation, and the open space connects the lobby and the cellar. The whole architecture features a progressive line of movements, open and close pathways, bright and dim spaces, interlaced with real and virtual realm that leads to the way home.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Lobby:
A space with no natural lights. Except for the dim lights from the car-waiting area, a comfortable atmosphere similar to that of a cellar is produced with walls made of natural cut stone slabs and teak wood up to the ceiling. The bar area is defined by iron rust colored steel and solid wood and the ㄇ-shaped frame painted with metallic paint. The soothing atmosphere relieves home-coming residents from their fatigue.
