PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We felt that art installations and subtle tech were important to create the feeling of luxury and depth in the unit. Full wall mirror integrates with a 75 inch TV to reflect ocean views when turned off, and creates a serene floating image when turned on. Custom lighting installation of naturally formed quartz crystals that have been arranged to form the Sagittarius constellation, representing optimism, discovery, travel and an exploration into the meaning of life. A pebble/stone artwork installation at the sculptural stair highlights nature as art and emotes a rhythmic harmony into the apartment.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Founder of Rose Ink Workshop Liubasha Rose was the design director for the 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach, so she has been immersed in the brand and context for years. Designing this unit was a way to express her very personal perspective on the 1 brand.
CHALLENGE: The hard part of figuring out how a brand that was all about nature would fit into the spirit of South Beach was really done while building and designing the 1 Hotel & Homes over the last 4 years. All of the lessons and principles that were discovered as part of that process were applied to the design of this penthouse.
