| DESIGN NAME: MyEquilibria PRIMARY FUNCTION: Outdoor Gym INSPIRATION: Designed by Vito Di Bari, inspired by Voronoi Diagrams and enabled by science, MyEquilibria sculptures blend into outdoor environments. Our bodies instinctively know what’s best for us. Meeting the growing trend for outdoor fitness and bodyweight training, every element has been studied for maximized biomechanics, kinesthetic intelligence, fundamental movement and wellness instinct for optimized workout results. MyEquilibria is a contemporary work of art shaping the future of outdoor wellness. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: MyEquilibria, a 7m tall iconic ‘Fitness Tree’, is a game-changing concept that redefines fitness and for the first time, brings together art, cutting-edge materials, high-end wellness equipment and community in perfect unison. Molded and hand-polished multi-patented Ultra High Performance Concrete is 5x thinner, 10 x stronger, and lasts 100 x longer than traditional concrete. UHPC seamlessly integrates with the highest-grade Inox steel for an innovative and sleek workout experience. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: MyEquilibria takes basic instinctive fitness training to the next level. Designed for both professional users and those without experience, every individual equipment can provide a total body workout in a minimal amount of time. With a free application available on Android and IOS, users can access over 500 video exercise tutorials searchable by muscle group, fitness level, or equipment. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2011 in Miami Beach and completed in Treviso in early 2016, and previewed at FuoriSalone, Orto Botanico di Brera in April 2016. European certifications were received in May 2016 and for the USA in September 2016. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: With an international team of designers, futurologists, fitness experts, personal trainers, engineers, and sociologists and five years of research and development we realized the project using primarily Ultra High Performance Concrete, High Performance Concrete and Steel with nautical treatment. The UHPC has three patents. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Height: 7 meters Space ranges from 55 - 200 Square meters Weight: 4,000 kg TAGS: Luxury, Design, Outdoors, Recreational, Sculpture, Wellness, Fitness, Innovation, Start-Up, Technology RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We spent two years gathering research data and studies on a variety of subjects including urban populations, fitness trends, global warming, sociology, and health and medicine specifically- physiology, psychology, obesity, and preventable diseases. CHALLENGE: Our biggest challenge was scaling down our creativity, but the biggest obstacle was finding the right material to create such a tall and elegant sculpture that could withstand all weather conditions and environments. Second was finding the right manufacturing partner who could understand and implement our vision. Third were the laws and safety certifications regarding outdoor fitness equipment. There were many changes to the regulations in the last year that we had to rapidly adapt to and incorporate.
