| DESIGN NAME: Stirrup PRIMARY FUNCTION: Reading Couch INSPIRATION: Inspiration came together with Cervantes in his deaths IV centenary. Taking advantage of this event, we determined that his greatest legacy was, apart from his works, his interest in reading. At this point, all design efforts are focused on a reading couch adapted to new social realities and to the latest product and space trends. Stirrup was born from the authors last words: With my foot already in the stirrup, in the agony of death, I write this to you, great sir UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Stirrup offers an ergonomic position and perfectly adjustable for reading. The particularity of the filling, along with its shape and patronage study, grants a great consistency in relation to current puffs. The singularity of the articulates the development of the concept and aesthetics. The use of fine and quality materials and its production, limited to 400 pieces, present exclusiveness. Lastly, the result of the use of two materials grants it a high distinctive value. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Stirrup allows the perfect adaptability to the Reading couch. Its lightweight makes the transport easy. Its aesthetic and formal quality, added to the products uniqueness, allows its readiness anywhere. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2016 in Toledo and finished in November 2016 in Toledo, and was exhibited in Promogift in February 2017. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Production sequence: Firstly, choice of leather, for which we researched on artistic chromatics of Cervantes times. Secondly, it is performed a rebate on which will be sewed with high resistance thread. Subsequently, all other parts are sewed including the label in which the unit number is shown. Afterwards, the ruff is embroidered on the upper part. Lastly, the puff is filled until the desired consistency is reached. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Product dimensions, 700 mm x 700 mm x 1100 mm TAGS: Craftman, handcraft, handmade, productdesign, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: For the design, we conducted benchmarking in the latest trends within the furniture sector, as well as in the decorating and retail sector. At the same time, we developed an anthropometric study on reading positions, which allowed us to establish the ideal dimensions for the item. For the materials choice, we conducted an artistic analysis both in the authors work and in the artistic expressions at the time. This study allowed us to choose the perfect chromatics for the leather. CHALLENGE: Ideal pattern design in search of the perfect position offered by the couch. Breaking down artisans barriers in his perspective of craft, his techniques and production of new pieces.
