| DESIGN NAME: Inter Bike PRIMARY FUNCTION: Urban Bike INSPIRATION: There are many different types of bikes in the market designed for different user types and activities. Also, there are significant increase of bike riders in the Urban areas riding bikes for commute, leisure, and exercises. So there is a need for a single bike that would be versatile to use for any activities in any conditions. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: "Inter Bike" is a urban bike with interchangeable wheels, the user can simply exchange and adjust the wheels to adjust to different road conditions and activities. It is targeted for young professionals in urban lifestyles who like to ride the bike for commute, leisure, and exercises. The easy pressure fit system for the interchangeable wheel, makes it quick and easy to exchange the bike wheels for different needs. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Vike offers similar size, weight, and construction structure as regular consumer road bikes. So the bike offers same ergonomics as most of the bikes in the market. The users does not have to go through a stiff learning curve of learning to ride the bike. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2016 in West Lafayette, IN, and finished in August 2016. |

NAME: Purdue University PROFILE: The Industrial Design area at Purdue has about 100 students in the program. They offer both an undergraduate and a graduate program in ID. The undergraduate degree is a professional program with intensive course work to prepare students for professional design positions. Purdue is unique in that it combines the professional degree with strong liberal arts education. This combination of liberal arts and professional design studies prepares students for strong leadership roles as industrial designers. |
