DESIGN NAME:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Ipad Stand
INSPIRATION:
Design was inspired by Samurai sword with slim and sleek metal. The sword with slim piece of metal can provide extraordinarily strength when the choosing the right material.
Ordinay Ipad stand was made of plastic or aluminium which is bulky , light and easily deformed. Stainelss steel was choosen to provide stength and weight for superior stable and reliable support to Ipad.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The stand base is fromed by single piece stainless steel for steady and reliable support. It's being precisely cut and stamped into sleek curve and angle for functionality and aesthetic requirements. The surface is brushed into tiny hairline pattern for premiem and luxury quality. The back support plate is designed for changing the Ipad angles simply by insert them into different slots. All the Ipad contact area are well protected by soft black silicon for scratch protection.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
Project stated in March 2013 and finish on August 2013 in Shenzhen, China. It was first published in Hong Kong Inno Design Tech Expo on December 2013.

CHALLENGE:
Main challenge are shape designs and production of stainless steel. Design of the shape by single piece sheet material is the greatest challenge. Finding the right shape for good support and good strength is critical in concept phase and took the longest time. When proced to production trial , the surface quality is another huge challenge because the steel surface are easily scratch during stamping process and hand polishing is introcuce to solve the problem.
