| DESIGN NAME: Draco PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ceiling lamp INSPIRATION: The starting point of the design is the stratification and the curves of the vampire costumes. I aspired to combine many different materials and meet them with the light. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The unique feature compared to other lightning designs is circular stratification form, ratio and light perspective. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We can perceive layers and curves and light games more and the form looks nice with gold ratios. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was designed in Istanbul between January and February of 2017. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Lighting Products and Fixtures Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Lightning consists of 3 different outer shell material and white Plexiglas material which is light-transmitting. Materials of outer shell can be connected to each other with thin wires and can be hanged via electrics cable. The materials of shell can be changed according to preference. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Total height: 400 mm total diameter: 160 mm Interior lighting fixture: 400 mm top small covering 160 mm top long covering 260 mm Height of strip light band: 370 mm width: 20 mm The golden ratio is used at the illumination height and diameter. TAGS: dracolighting, lighting, lamp, ceiling, vampire, innovative, golden rotio RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research and design process of Draco project has started with ideas of vampire costumes’ curves and dimensions that I have seen from the vampire movies since my childhood. Then, the golden proportion has been included and the design started to take its place and here it is. CHALLENGE: The hardest step was the applying golden proportion into the circular shell. The proportions should be correct as numerically and also should look properly to the eye. The calculations and tests on this subject took long time.
