| DESIGN NAME: Schiele PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chair INSPIRATION: Discovering the true nature of human by his expressive physical figure paintings, Egon Schiele was my true inspiration to find what the best shape to embrace a human body is. By studying his works I tried to find a simple beauty and a shape that could support my work. A figure of a woman laying down was the one I started to study and found the base shape from it and after that, the resemblance it had with the famous Panton chair, gave me the idea for giving it nostalgia by rich, glossy finishes UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Named after one of the greatest figurative painters of the 20th century, Schiele , is a simple new modern, comfortable and universal chair. Discovering the true nature of human by his expressive physical figure paintings, Egon Schiele was the true inspiration to find what the best shape to embrace a human body is. It's usage and the feeling it gives is depended on the place that it's being used and it's completely depended on what color scheme you choose for it, too. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Just like any other chair; with high density foam for the seat area so that it can have the maximum comfort. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2016 and finished in February 2017 in Tehran, Iran. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Injection Moulding, Synthetic Plastic (Cast Form), Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE), Light High Density Urethane Foam (PU) SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: W:65cm H:95cm D:68cm TAGS: chair, stool, universal, seat, sitting, furniture, modern, comfort, comfortable RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I did my researches on the selection of materials and production methods.I tried to find durable and timeless materials and high-quality builds to turn it into piece of furniture to be kept for a lifetime, both indoor and outdoor. I also did field researches by making some prototype models to test all my measurements real-life and to know if they have the enough needed comfort. CHALLENGE: The challenges of this design process were finding the right measurements so the chair can fit a wide range of people although it's space is limited, it's production and how the molding should be so that it can come out in one piece and have the sufficient strength and the most important thing was to shape it in a way that can be fitted in any space and environment.
