DESIGN NAME:
Regeneration

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Residential House

INSPIRATION:
Gentle color tones in association with sunlight transparency deliver a new concept about 'Greatness of life'; alternative approach of high-low tiered structure applied to open hall area creates a free style and modern sense without redundancy.A comfort zone with socio-cultural touch, where qualities of Integrity, Purity and Clarity coexist without losing respective uniqueness.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project started off by opening up overall space for reallocation. Through numerous experimental approaches to unfold a balanced rhythm of light, color and material; taking into consideration every possibility from inner out. The L-shaped common hall window serves to contain versatile natural light throughout the day. Sunshine-city-view-Greenery brought indoor in creating a spiritual oasis where one would always find peace within.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
By adopting plain colors & texture, "SIMPLIFICATION" leads throughout the whole project. Although each behind-the-scene effort must be taken in terms of space and structural transition; extensive research and cautious inspection underwent to re-examine the correlation between user needs, space layout, building conditions and surroundings.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
Project completion: December 2015 Flat location: Taipei, Taiwan R.O.C.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Entirely independent functions and circulations for work and living space has been a key assignment to the project. The challenge was to fully transform and instill new life into the pre-existed conditions - a layout full of constraints, inefficiency in space usage and lacking integrity. By introducing a base tone of whiteness, large ratio open areas and light in abundance, we successfully retained space flexibility while enhancing scenic versatility; whereby elements of a linear staircase, high ceilings and boundless setup all added to the above.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
165 square feet

TAGS:
Deconstruction, concept, urban function house, simplification,

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
In the context of a raised mezzanine setting, we took on challenges to clearly define functional zones independent of each other. To enliven the abstract nature of design with practical approaches and from the inhabitant’s perspective. To emphasize on interaction between people and surroundings. To create a living space accommodating both openness and enclosure, where transparency and privacy coexist.

CHALLENGE:
In respect of the homeowner’s requirement, the 165 square meters space was remodeled into isolated areas of work and living. The study room (work-space combined) features high ceiling and unconventional design resembling a public library. The wall-covering bookshelves, conference desks & chairs, linear lighting and hidden storage units, being artfully arranged in contributing an inviting atmosphere both for work and reading. With all storage functions hidden from sight, the linkage and harmony between indoor and outdoor scenery remain gracefully intact.

NAME:
S.L SPACE DESIGN

PROFILE:
S.L. DESIGN, demand the “impression of comprehension” during our designing. Besides what are on or off them, we emphasize the stable character of the “essence of life”, and contemplate the humble process of an “attitude of life”. We induce the value of truth indirectly through the connection of inner experience and outer environment, allowing the scope of life and the boundary of life to be expressed within the existing order.
