PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Entirely independent functions and circulations for work and living space has been a key assignment to the project. The challenge was to fully transform and instill new life into the pre-existed conditions - a layout full of constraints, inefficiency in space usage and lacking integrity.
By introducing a base tone of whiteness, large ratio open areas and light in abundance, we successfully retained space flexibility while enhancing scenic versatility; whereby elements of a linear staircase, high ceilings and boundless setup all added to the above.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In the context of a raised mezzanine setting, we took on challenges to clearly define functional zones independent of each other. To enliven the abstract nature of design with practical approaches and from the inhabitant’s perspective. To emphasize on interaction between people and surroundings. To create a living space accommodating both openness and enclosure, where transparency and privacy coexist.
CHALLENGE: In respect of the homeowner’s requirement, the 165 square meters space was remodeled into isolated areas of work and living. The study room (work-space combined) features high ceiling and unconventional design resembling a public library. The wall-covering bookshelves, conference desks & chairs, linear lighting and hidden storage units, being artfully arranged in contributing an inviting atmosphere both for work and reading.
With all storage functions hidden from sight, the linkage and harmony between indoor and outdoor scenery remain gracefully intact.
