| DESIGN NAME: Iron Dryer PRIMARY FUNCTION: 2 in 1 Steam Iron and Hair Dryer INSPIRATION: Actually I am one of those people who are living alone on their own. I lived in very narrow yet high-priced room in Seoul, South Korea where tons of Single Household are struggling to live. One day I found out that I need a iron, but I didn’t have one because I have to move in 1 year and the room is quite narrow to fill more stuffs. But when I use a hair dryer, I found out that the mechanical structure of hair dryer and steam iron is quite similar, So it will make a great combination for them if it's combined in one. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The ratio of Single Household is ever increasing globally. Single Household face several difficulties including small space, frequent move, economic burden etc. However, ‘Iron Dryer’ which combined steam iron and hair dryer in one body can lighten economic and spatial burden of Single Household. Users can use this product as a hair dryer daily. and when they are in need of steam iron, they can easily put steam iron parts on top of the hair dryer body. Also It is quite conducive to travelers. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 1. Use it as a Hair Dryer -> 2. If you are in need of using Steam Iron, then pour water in the watertank of Steam Iron and close. -> 3. Insert Steam Iron Components on top of Hair Dryer -> 4. Use it as a Steam Iron -> 5. Adjust the level of strength in Steam Iron or Hair Dryer by each different adjusting button. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in january 2016 in seoul and finished in september 2016, and was awarded winner in pinup concept design award. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The structure of Hair Dryer and Steam Iron is quite similar in that both of them need hot air to perform. So there's no problem if these two are combined well. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 210 mm x 75 mm x 230 mm TAGS: single household, hair dryer, steam iron, home appliance design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The ratio of Single Household is ever increasing globally, and even in some countries like Norway and Sweden, the people who are living alone reaches more than a half in total, and is expected to reach far more than half in few years. So It is imperative than ever before for products focused on single household be produced much more CHALLENGE: There were several challenges on how to properly combine each different items.
