DESIGN NAME: Umpqua Bank South Lake Union
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Retail Store
INSPIRATION: The energy and focus of the store are drawn directly from the innovation and technology focus of the South Lake Union neighborhood. The space was designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and provide inspiration to visitors, and builds on the reputation of South Lake Union as a hub for technology, innovation, public art, and active living. The store provides space for events to further foster and engage this vibrant community spirit.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This flagship retail store is located in the vibrant South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle, whose innovative spirit is the driving force for the design. The exterior mirrors the contemporary neighborhood and draws the passerby into the space. Guests can enjoy free coffee, read, share ideas, access Wi-Fi, and browse apps on the app wall. In-store events and Umpqua products and services are displayed on the Community Wall, and three conference meeting rooms are available for free reservation.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project began in March 2013 and construction was completed in Seattle, WA in May 2014.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This store was designed with energy efficiency in mind, which was reflected in the materials and systems used in the project. The space was also built to be versatile and conducive to holding various types of community events. The need to create a space that was both high performance and inviting is reflected throughout the design.
