DESIGN NAME: Partition Screen
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Partition Screen
INSPIRATION: Finest art of spiritual expression, traditional art of stencilling originally from Mathura, krishna's hometown. The form is inspired from the Kadamba tree, since a tree symbolises growth. The motif in combination with the strategic juxtaposition of the suspension lamp - personified as Krishna himself in the frame thus culminated into the idea of "light-for sustenance of growth, and thus life itself".
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Energy, conserved as Natural light, is discerningly harnessed and juxtaposed with artificial light for heightened aesthetic that bestows ambience with a feel-good, enriched ambience augmenting the brand image and the fundamentally necessary good-will and trust, so important for a securities company.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The shifting incidence of the Sun, chirascuro elements played out, animating different space and inspiring users to newer and greater heights.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Located in Lotus Business Park Jogeshwari Mumbai, India.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A miracle with paper and scissors - "Sanjhi Art" was indeed very inspiring and intricately wove the symbolism of growth into the DNA of spaces, conceptually. But the traditionally used medium, usually crafted in panels not larger than an imperial size, soon poffered its limitation of size. The befitting clarity which permitted the visual connect and yet veiled the space, was overcome with faux leather. Since the pellucid partition demanded and impartial finish inside-out, we chose to bind leather sheets and then applied the craft. The crafted panels were in turn sandwiched with sheets of glass and the outcome was a limpid module ready for reptition. Repetitive design would take away from tree foliage concept, so each panel had to be unique and ofcourse permitting visual continuity of the canopy of the tree. There came in the Chromed metal vertical on elen key fitting that was the sleekest a support could get besides being reflective and hence less invasive to the eye. Thus playing the "RAAS".
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 50'-0" x 1-0" x 8'-10" divided into 13 panels, one of them being a door leading into the space.
10mm (extra clear glass of saint gobain make)+2mm (gossamer like faux leather bound with adhesive)+12mm (extra clear single side frosted glass of saint gobain make)
Custom extrusion of Stainless steel in a T and C profiles respectively for ease of installation and maintenance.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Light took a metaphorical quality for growth together with the form inspired from Kadamba tree symbolising life. Ensuring the charming aesthetic, cutting of the harsh light but allowing sufficient light to enter the work place through interplay of materials and form. Primarily drawing natural light and also supplementing it in artifical form to optimise positive energy.
CHALLENGE: The major challenge here lay in the site's south-facing orientation, and the solution lay in filtering the quantum and intensity of light into every workplace. Especially since the 500 square meter of space, for operational reason had to be divided into spaces, each with independent access as well as areas common to all e.g. restrooms, pantry, dining etc on the office floor.
