| DESIGN NAME: Asa PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sideboard INSPIRATION: In our effort to interpret new and different cultures, we can lead to paths unknown, that had never been imagined. On these paths, we discover new themes, untold stories, interesting shapes, unrevealed colours. In this diversity that might have seemed important in the beginning, we might recognize another personality of us that might had been well hidden.My basic inspiration was the Indian art of tattoos; my attempt was to reveal something that I love, by creating something with a particular theme, dimension and subject. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The unique, custom made design presented in the front of the sideboard, reminisces of Mehndi, a traditional folklore decorative scripture reference that was used for religious reasons. The detailed rim of the casing, the inside drawers with their diagonal lines, even the hinges and the way they operate and unite, as well as the metal support base with the slanted legs, indicate the absolute detail and unique properties in construction and design. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The primary function is as a storage unit, but the combination of simplicity and the imposing form, transforms it into a powerful piece of decoration for any contemporary or traditional house. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project is in a concept stage & has not been prototyped or constructed. The concept work started in January of 2017 & ended by the end of February 2017. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The sideboard was digitally designed using cad & 3d modelling software. It can be produced in MDF surface in all range of colours. The front doors are lacquered wood in printed pattern & the internal structure is polished lacquered. The legs and the frame are in satin or polished aluminum. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The dimension of the sideboard is 2500X520X790mm. The main structure is the combination of two MDF panel of thickness 12mm - total 240mm fact that gives us the a very specific detail in the structure of the sideboard. Its possible to produce in the whole range of RAL colors. The doors are in printed pattern slide or open in combination of 5 different colors or in black & white. Inside the cabinet there are shelves and drawers with special opening. Finally the structure of the legs is in satin or polished aluminum. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The original investigation focused on the draft form and more specifically to these shapes. In their final form in their final dimension to shape as well as the dimensions of these and of course to the combination of such diverse and disparate shapes and definitive end to the combination of colors Subsequent to the technical performance of the scheme in the wood through a specific printer that could capture the particular project in every detail. CHALLENGE: The original investigation, focused on the draft form and more specifically to these shapes .The main goal was to fit the particular images, in absolute perfection, to the dimensions of the object, combining colors, shapes and sizes. The technical part of producing the specific object , can be only achieved with a special printer that can capture this particular project with every necessary detail. NAME: Grigorelis PROFILE: Grigorelis Xenofon-Hector was born in Thessaloniki where he continues to work and live, up until now. He completed his studies on interior design and he started experimenting on wood constructions. His first projects were based on design and production of pieces for commercial use as well as unique, one- of- pieces. His main goal was to combine aesthetics and workability in an interesting conjunction. After many years of experience designing, interior decorating and creating both houses and commercial shops, he decides to follow his restless needs and culture his artistic views and ideas in order to produce his own projects. He also taught at the Greek public technical school for a year, graphic design, were he challenged himself in getting close with the upcoming designers. In 2014 he decides to participate in International Design Competitions, were he is awarded with the Bronze Award in A Design Competition and with the Silver Award in 2015-2016 in Italy. The designer’s perspective is that modern personalities should adopt aesthetics, architecture and internal decoration in their everyday life. All new means of high technology such as computers and mobile phones are piece for the pictures we face every moment throughout our day. Elegance should be recognised and not be considered as inaccessible luxury. Since 2012 , he redefined his priorities as a productive designer and set new goals in the area of presenting new forms in designing and producing elegant objects of everyday’s life. The main challenge now is to make our space exquisite and impressive. He seems to be immediately recognized both from the industry as well as from the people that follow him. |
