DESIGN NAME: Qemfor
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Phone with 4 cameras on four sides
INSPIRATION: Social media has become a common part of everyday life for Visual Communications. It allows people to capture and share their personal and group memories, upload works, social relationships and expressing their emotions.
With the rise of live streaming and video services on social medias, it’s more important to have good camera features.
The concept came from the ‘wing mirrors’ or ‘side mirrors’ of the car, where the driver can see areas behind and to the sides of the vehicle, outside of the driver's peripheral vision. How would it feel to drive without having them?.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Qemfor feature has 4 inbuilt cameras on four sides of the phone. It gives efficient recording from the Front, Back as well as Left and the Right directions.
Each camera is fixed on each four side of the phone for individual or multiple use. Qemfor feature helps user to avoid keep moving the camera directions in case of recording the moving object. It covers maximum areas of surroundings from different angles for 3D image.
Generally, in case of travelling, users have to turn their body towards the car window to capture outside recording, by doing this they missing recordings of other side of the car, some times that causes for neck pain and back body pain, to prevent this Qemfor feature provides recordings from the side cameras by keeping the mobile screen straight towards their faces.
Qemfor allows hands-free recordings once the camera set in recording mode, the side cameras records even if the phone is unattended or left in the flat position on the desk or floor.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Phone software provides full control on all cameras.
Depending on requirements any single or multiple cameras can be use for Video shoot or Still image.
The size of screens are variable to make it bigger or smaller for good vision.
Settings like Zoom in/out, Brightness and Contrast, Time-Lapse can be done from the phone software.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The QEMFOR project was started in July, 2016 in London and completed by December 2016

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This technology lets the user take side recordings. Left and Right cameras are placed to cover the maximum areas which are not covered by Front and Back Cameras, either 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 camera can be use simultaneously with adjustable screen ratio.
If the users wants to record any particular side then they can turn off the rest of the cameras for privacy.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: All four camera definitions are different from each other comparing to its resolutions, lens quality or sensor to maintain the cost or quality of phones.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Several observations are taken to find out how people holds the phone, the overall body movement, changing camera directions while recording moving objects. Activities like walking, using cameras while having food, at functions, public places. in car, bus or train while travelling, during workout and many more.
CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to expand the camera coverage meanwhile maintain the cost, size and weight of the phones to its lowest
First tried with inbuilt Rotate Camera, External High-definition camera, Advance Sensors, Zoom Lenses and Flash systems and it was noticed that mobile device became more complicated and heavier so instead of using external devices adding two internal cameras on Left and Right sides of the phone solved the whole issue.
