DESIGN NAME: Lobel
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bookshelf
INSPIRATION: My goal was to design a very smooth and essential piece of furniture, which thanks to its elegance is capable of framing and enhancing all the personal items that a person wants to put on it. The bookshelf has its own personality but it also helps to give value to what is inside it.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Lobel bookshelf stands out thanks to his essential and rigorous lines, combining elegance with functionality. Its square shape frames and enhances the personal objects and books that a person put on its glass tops.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The basic concept is to have two dimensionally different bookshelves which can be put side by side obtaining various configurations, as the end user wants or needs.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Lobel was exhibited in Salone del Mobile in 2016 and 2017

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Metal structure is galvanic treated in order to obtain brass, bronze, silver, gold finishings. It's completely decomposable in order to be stored and shipped. Every connection is designed to be invisible in order to obtain a very smooth design.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1800 x 450 x 1850
TAGS: bookshelf, metal, glass,
RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research was focused on finding the best way to fix all the elements of the bookshelf hiding all the connections, in order to obtain a seamless structure and a monolithic feeling. The goal has been achieved after various prototypes.
CHALLENGE: The hardest challenge was to design a decomposable bookshelf which could be immerse in the galvanic tank, which has dimensional limits.
And together with that to design a seamless structure, with no evident connections.
