| DESIGN NAME: On the Table PRIMARY FUNCTION: Arcade table INSPIRATION: In the 80's, many kids grew up with old-school video games and arcade games that became a distinct subculture of the era. Now those kids are grown-up adults, but their good childhood memories are still alive within them, and forever will be. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is an arcade-styled video game console to play vintage video games from the 80's and 90's, and it is dedicated to adults who grew up with those video games in their childhood. However, having a normal vintage video game console could ruin the ambience of your sophisticated living room. Here is a solution. This is not just a game console, but it transforms to a stylish modern coffee table when it is not played. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This is an arcade - styled video game console for single or two players. When it is not played, it is a normal coffee table and the game console interface is hidden. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Materials: wood, stainless steel SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions: W 700 D 500 H 345 mm TAGS: Arcade, Vintage, Video game, Furniture, Coffee table, Side table RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research was conducted in two directions. The first direction was looking into existing arcade consoles for home. And, the second direction was looking into contemporary design tables to be inspired for designing the style of pur project. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was finding a contemporary stylish design for this unique product which transforms from a coffee table to arcade game console.
