Consumers and merchants in Hong Kong have transited their consumption behaviours and target audiences, from chain-stores to online shops, group-buying or one deal a day. It saves a lot of money for merchants, and also proves that the consumption patterns are changing. Merchants can utilize the Bea Da Point platform to increase brand awareness in an appropriate cost. It would become the key of latest consumption pattern.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Bea Da Point is a brand-new multimedia platform. It is free and work with application, new technology, blue-tooth 4.0 beacon to create new experience for users. They earn points through Bea Da Point App by watching ads, walking into stores and purchasing items to gain the cash coupons. Besides, users get latest information through Bea Da Point App within 50m diameter from stores. Points accrued from App can be redeemed for cash valued coupons or gifts from specified categories.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Bea Da Point promotes "Circular consumption, transforming daily life". It is an multifunctional mobile application which allows the users watching Ads and gain beadapoints for redeeming gifts simultaneously. By showing a simple and user-friendly interface, users can freely choose a wide variety of advertisement from different shops. At the same time, users not only follow their favourite shops and read their update news, but also like the ads and share on the social platform as well. Besides, users can gain beadapoints while purchasing at Beashops by scanning QR code provided by the shop. The amount of beadapoints gained will be equal to the amount of the users' purchase at the shop. To convert beadapoints to money afterwards, users can choose the value of cash coupon they want and redeem it by entering a redeem code provided by the shop. Moreover, there are only few simple steps to become one of the Beashops. The application form can be downloaded on the official website and can be sent to Bluewave Technology Company Ltd. after completion. The application will be normally approved within a week.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in May 2014 in Hong Kong and finished in June 2015 in Hong Kong. During the time, BeaDaRun, which was a running competition with using Bea Da Point App, was held in January 2015 in Hong Kong.
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
For the production technology, the project is separated into 3 parts: website (for shops), apps (for end-customers) and backend (for admin). For website, it allows shopkeeper to register an account and post their advertisement like video links or posters. Also, they may set "points' to their advertisement, and that website is able to purchase points from RewardPointStation. The iBeacon (points) will be attached into those shops and it connects every smart phone, which has installed their app within iBeacon range. There are 3 ways to give out iBeacon to customer: Once customers consume there, they will get some points from shops; customers will get iBeacon once they check those advertisement uploaded by the shopkeepers in the website; As long as end customers walk into those shops with the app and detected by ibeacon within a certain timeslot, end customer will gain points as well. For end-customers, app allows end customer register an account and login.They can check them individually or slot them out. Also, there will be a map that locating all local shops which has iBeacon in the app. For the backend, it is running on web platform and the admin have to login and chek all the profile of every shop, view reports from shops, giving out points to shops and editing advertisement.

BeaDaRun, a running competition which was opened to general public, aims to enhance users experiences with impressive and authentic demonstration. Targeted with the young people such as university students, their involvement became active promoter of the brand which brought positive social and viral power. It integrated BeaDaPoint in daily and gradually became a necessity in the future. Also, the enhancement of the interaction between commercial stores and end users brings improvement and gets to know the habits and preferences of the end users. It also recalls BeaDaPoint as a professional & healthy brand image. Besides, our promotion video demonstrated how BeaDaPoint adopts the influency of technology to provide a better life to Hong Kong smartphone user and the usage flow. By using vivid art direction, simple and fun description of BeaDaPoint, it drives users attentions on the latest consuming platform application in Hong Kong.
Before initiating the plan of BeaDaPoint app, there was no any former information technology application in Hong Kong. It is difficult to predict the usage of virtual money (iBeaCon) in a unprecedented way. In the traditional consumer shopping behaviour, they likely receive flocks of information from print or online advertisement. But with applying our technology, the users can experience a new shopping mode by watching latest online ads from BeaDaPoint app and gain points for redeeming coupons, which is more interactive. Similarly, we can provide an alternative platform for the shop owners to promote their latest products or information. However, the transformation of the shopping practice maybe not be satisfied for the customers.
