| DESIGN NAME: Chieut PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table INSPIRATION: Chieut (ㅊ) was, literally, the main inspiration behind it all, as a fearless pictorial translation of the Korean word to a sophisticated table; thus highlighting another possible facet of minimalism, denying abstraction as a result and welcoming figurative visual representation. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Uniting simple and thin steel pipes as the foundation, the balancing act starts to unravel before our eyes; an oval steel sheet, just as nimble as its base, sits off-balance pompously unlike most classic tables. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Ordinary coffee table with artistical aesthetic. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2012 and keep progress in the detail modification and manufacturing. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Matte Anodized Steel Welding, Laser cutting, CNC SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: H 500 x W 350 x L 520 (mm) TAGS: Art, Table, Chieut, Skinny RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Created out of solid steel, the Table Chieut almost looks like a Korean logogram from the side. It uses three thin, widely splayed legs to keep a heavier steel tabletop balanced, regardless of how much you stack on top. CHALLENGE: Compromising between the detail and usability for producing.
