DESIGN NAME: Shampoo Bottle
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Adjustable amounts
INSPIRATION: We usually take shampoo dispense from the shampoo bottle by several casual presses on the push-pump caps without having an idea about how much shampoo we really need. The amount of usage barely depends on the visual estimation of users. Therefore, there are often an excess in amount of shampoo which resulted in a waste of shampoo and water. If users can get a certain amount of shampoo dispense through preset of the volume value, users can preset the volume according to the length of their hair.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The adjustments of value result in changes in the press depth. An preset of the value leads to a certain amount of shampoo dispense released by one complete press on the push pump cap. Different amounts of usage can be set for different family members and marked by sliders in different colors so that users can adjust the value from last set by a quick turn of the gear. Normal values of volume of dispense needed for hairs of different length but an average density are printed on the bottle.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: According to the printing figures on the bottle and your personal habits and experience, determine the value of shampoo volume you are going to take, turn the gear to adjust the value, the press depth increases or decreases to determine the final amount of shampoo dispense in one complete press. Then, give the push-pump cap a complete press to get the certain amount of shampoo dispense. Mark the position of value pointer by moving the slider of chosen color, this helps to clarify different values of shampoo volume for different family members.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The product mainly consists of two parts, one part is the bottle which can be produced by blow molding, another part is the push pump cap which is assembled by several components, and these components can be produced by injection molding. Material selected for both parts is PP which absorb little water.
