| DESIGN NAME: Sframe // Luce e Volume PRIMARY FUNCTION: Outdoor Lighting Versatile Furniture INSPIRATION: Sframe // Luce e Volume (lights and volumes) is inspired by light pollution of outdoor commercial activities as restaurant, bar and cafes. I lived in a seaside town in Sicily and the light pollution is visible near to the coast, where most of my favorite bars and restaurants are, and you have to choose: see the stars or drink your cocktail. Sframe born to allow both, it release a warm low light and doesn’t affect the landscape, your steps are safe and you can use it as a stool where finish your drink. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Handcrafted stainless frame with integrated LEDs lights and a top in welded mesh. Sframe, used as a stool or a side table, transforms the outdoor experience, keeping the environment safety avoiding the light pollution. A simple shape designed to furnish an outdoor scalable space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Sframe is a modular system and works for addition, larger scale: more modules=more lights, more stools, more tables. Because the light is faced to the ground and each product could be used by one or max two people. With this proportion is ensured enough light to ensure the safety of movement without affecting the surroundings. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Entirely made in Agrigento (Sicily, Italy) the whole production process lasted about three weeks, before one month of research and design. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Stainless Steel square frame 2x2 cm welded in a square frame with recessed LED light system E27. The top is a welded mesh, reinforced. Entirely hand crafted by Sicilian artisans. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 50cm length, 50 cm depth, 50 cm high. Is a Stainless frame made of a 2cm square tube for the body, plus a welded with the stainless web with incorporated hidden LED strings E27 TAGS: outdoor, lighting, furniture, handcraft, italian, young, design, seaside RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The team worked to find the best solution according with available technology and materials, right size, strength and durability. Sframe has been produced in series of tens by professionals blacksmiths. The design focus on multiplying the functions reducing the shape at the essential. The result is a minimal but extremely functional shape. CHALLENGE: The true challenge was to design and realize an outdoor furniture with integrated lights that reduces both: light pollution as material, time-work flows. Functional to give back the stars to their usual place. NAME: BellaVista Ristobar PROFILE: BellaVista Ristobar is a seaside Restaurant located in Agrigento (Sicily, IT) owned by the brothers Dario and Gabriele Messina, who shared their lives between the family restaurant and international blowing experiences. The BellaVista Ristobar, designed entirely by Alice Tedesco, is the synthesis of their common dream, is a place designed to innovate the local food experience and able to embrace everybody’s leisure attitude and requirement in a general feeling of unique welcome. The series Sframe is the material connection between indoor and outdoor, private and social space. Is a multifunctional furniture that use less to give back more, more functions, more atmosphere and better experience. It’s an empty volume, lighted with recessed LED E27 that allow to use it indoor or outdoor as a side table or a stool. To stay in line with the rest of the concept is entirely hand made by the expertise of local artisans following the designer’s guidelines. |
